Some common problems that Net Yield can help you solve.

INVENTORY...

My current system doesn't handle lotted products.

The ability to handle lotted product is important in this business. Not only are prices and costs sometimes tied to lots, but so is traceability. Net Yield gives you tools to handle non-lotted, lotted, and individually lotted products, like whole tuna or swordfish. You can move inventory between lots, sell from specific lots - whatever you need. And if you really need to locate product in certain places within a warehouse, you can even specify 'slots' - specific locations of the product.

I never know how much I have in inventory to sell.

That's a common complaint from companies that are not using a real-time system like Net Yield. If you can't process sales and purchase orders, as well as inventory transfers and work orders immediately, you'll never know how much you have right now. We give you inventory availability right in the middle of doing a sales or purchase order. You can see what's on hand vs what's available from other incoming orders. Our Purchase Orders are also special. They let you receive product and sell it without having completed the PO's cost side. That means you can turn product around fast, and still keep accurate inventory.

My sales team is always overselling my inventory.

Overselling inventory is a result of your sales people not knowing what they have to sell at that exact moment in time. We help you solve that problem by giving the sales team an 'electronic white board' right in the middle of the sales order, so they can see what's actually on-hand and what's available today based on other incoming Purchase Orders. This is all possible because we are a 'real time' system.

I don't know my real costs of inventory.

Usually you don't know your true costs because few systems allow you to 'fully absorb' all of the costs of a product. This is usually only found in very high priced computer programs. Net Yield lets you fully account for all costs in a sale, purchase or inventory movement, using very simple, yet powerful rules that you define. For instance, if a certain vendor or customer is 'difficult' to deliver to, you can assign them an extra cost factor. You just need to manage the rule set, and Net Yield will price and cost the products instantly for you. This is one of the tools we use to eliminate what is called 'variance' - the difference between your instant gross margin reports and your monthly financials.

I can't get my trucks out on time. (or routing, dispatching problems)

Trucks not leaving on time is a symptom of problems on the shipping floor. We'll give you integrated tools like pick tickets and pick lists to help you get the trucks loaded fast. Orders can be 'put up' as soon as the order is available from the sales team. Dispatchers can get load sheets, and can control routes and stops from their local machine. They'll know how much of a truck is ready to go right from their screen. Customer stops can roll on by default or be changed on the fly. There are many, many dispatching tools in Net Yield.

I need to track inventory in different locations.

Net Yield will let you handle any number of locations, such as internal or external cold storage, warehouses, etc. We give you the tools to move the product using transfers, and even provide freezer inductions and releases. You can specify lot information if needed, and even specify 'slot' locations - where the inventory is physically located. You can even specify 'non-saleable' locations if you needed to, to stop people from selling certain items.

I need to deal with inventory I don't own.

Non-owned inventory is one of our specialties. Many of our customers rent out space in their freezer for other companies, but don't want to bring the inventory onto their books. Net Yield gives you special tools to induct and release quantities of non-owned inventory, but keeps the value of that inventory off your books.

FINANCIAL ...

I keep losing money, even though I think we make good margins.

It sounds like you're running an 'after the fact' system - your back office probably associates costs to your transactions at the end of the month. Net Yield gives you the tools to fully absorb all costs IMMEDIATELY, in real time. Even if you don't know an actual cost yet, you can plug in estimates until you do. So when you look at one of our gross margin reports (by item, customer, salesperson, route, buyer or price class) it will match closely with the end of month financials. You will see instant profitability on all transactions - and know just how much margin you have to play with on a sale.

My margin reports never match my financial statements.

Margin reporting is linked to knowing your TRUE costs, and its one of our specialties. We give you tools to let you instantly assign costs, such as shipping, labor or packaging, to specific items. You can even specify the rules to be customer or vendor specific. When you absorb all your costs and run in a real time environment like Net Yield, you can manage what accountants call the 'variance' between margin reports and financials down to a very small number. Our whole system is built around you being able to know TRUE costs. Since we get the margins right, we also give you a number of margin reports to manage with - by item, customer, route, etc. Some of our video clips touch on this extensively.

SALES AND OPERATIONS...

I have a need to do sales commissions.

We can handle sales commissions in many ways. You can define whether commissions paid on a particular item sold are calculated on a per pound basis or as a percentage of sales dollars, gross margin percent or gross profit dollars. You can have different commission rates for different sales people or brokers, and even distinguish between an 'account manager' and an 'order taker'.

I need to be able to do Settlements with vendors.

When you say 'settlements' are you referring to 'crew shares', like when the boat lands? We don't get into that - use the local harbor service. But if you mean settling up with a vendor for product that you've bought on 'consignment', we do that. Our Settlement Report option calculates the product cost due to Vendors who deliver their product on consignment. Payment for the deliveries is calculated after a significant percentage of the product received is sold so that average selling prices, margins and costs can be established. We use our 'individually lotted' feature to do this.

I need to comply with Country of Origin Labeling.

Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) has been in Net Yield since the regulation went into affect a few years ago. You can build assorted 'cool' descriptors, and associate these with any item code or at the lot level. You can designate customers and items as being 'strictly' cool enforced, or 'loosely' managed. For instance, if a customer is designated as 'strict', it means any product you ship him MUST have a COOL descriptor associated with it - or it will hold up the shipment. COOL designations will be printed on paperwork if that customer requires it, and can also be printed on labels using our label designer.

COMMUNICATIONS/REGULATIONS...

I need to do EDI (Electronic Data Interface) transactions.

Net Yield handles EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) in many transaction formats. You can electronically send and receive purchase orders and invoices formatted under UCC standards for Grocery Product Purchase Orders 850 & 875, Grocery Product Invoices 810 & 880 and Functional Acknowledgements 997. We also can create custom transaction formats for your Trading Partners as the need arises. there are many 'flavors' of even 'standard' transactions, so we need to work with you to make sure the transaction set is right. But we have all the tools available for you.

I need to join Darden's i-Kitchen project.

We're proud to be part of the Darden i-Kichen e-commerce project. We have several customers online with Darden now, including American Seafood, Ipswich Shellfish, CT Shellfish, Lobster Trap, and others. The i-kichen tools let you receive orders from Darden's website, and process back acknowledgements and 'advanced shipping and billing notices'. Net Yield has a lot of other e-commerce and e-communication tools as well, like EDI and the ability to send pricelists, newsletters, ads and stuff from the sales department.

I need to comply with government traceability regulations.

Traceability is now required by the federal government in many industries as part of the Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) requirements. We will give you tools to trace any product back through the system to the exact purchase. You need to be dealing with lotted products in order to get traceability. The 'lot' is really the thing that is being traced. We'll give you good traceability.

I need to do crew shares when unloading boats.

As far as 'Crew Shares' are concerned, we don't get into that. We suggest that you use the service usually found at the local port. If you're a boat unloader, we WILL give you the tools to make sure all of those costs you have to pay get included on the receipt of the product, but we don't split up the boat's revenue itself between the crew.
